Upcoming Publication Project
The publication will present the results of a long-term research on the domestic realms, challenging architectural norms with an inclusive, feminist framework. We came to the decision of collecting the results of our research in a publication as our way to restart a crucial conversation about the role of domesticity as a space that emphasizes social, critical, political aspects of life while certainly serving the needs of the individual. This project fosters a collaborative practice to rethink and redesign domestic spaces with an intersectional approach, featuring essays, design practices, workshops, and conversations. Since founding Common Ground Practice, we have engaged with many emerging practitioners who have enriched our vision and helped tackle challenges. The publication includes dialogues with, and contributions from, designers, artists, architects, activists, and scholars, aiming to offer alternative perspectives on domestic life. This project is progressing along two interconnected routes: one involves research, while the other focuses on practical implementation. The main goal of the present research is to reconsider the tools we use to create spaces and to explore them collaboratively and inclusively.
