In the context of increasing migration, increasing patriarchal power systems and the increasing injustice and inequalities, the question of a safe domestic space is pressing.
The role of design and designers in relation to those issues is equally pressing.
How can we, as designers, pursue a design method that researches, collects, activates voices and behaviours not spoken? “How to Create Anew?” is a workshop that develops multiple ways of knowing and unfolding realities and individual stories in relation to the domestic environment. Based on the empirical accounts of lived experience the workshop aims to collect those stories and arise new methods of actively sharing them to set together, designers and participants, new principles to rethink and redesign spaces. How can we make the design process more inclusive? How can we learn how to read our domestic environments otherwise? Once the individuals realise what is really happening, the reasons they react and listen to their true “wants”, only then they will be able to get rid of a daily routine that suppresses them or displeases them and leaves them no room to evolve and thrive.

“Therefore, in order to reimagine the body, one must reimagine space.”
