Building upon the co-living experiment at @dopo.space where, to face the too expensive accommodations of MDW, designers and artists are hosted in exchange of artistic contribution, we are excited to introduce “home-work”, a role-play to investigate the meaning of sharing a re-created domestic space with strangers to have the possibility to attend and present at a prestigious venue like the Milano Design Week.
The workshop highlights the dual nature of the co-living experience providing space to reflect on the compromises, which can turn out to be fruitful, that we make in pursuit of our careers. The co-living experience is not necessarily spontaneous, many of us might not be there if there weren’t the opportunity to present during such an event.
The nature of the domestic space allows for many uses.
However, when does the domestic space become a place for conviviality and when does it risk being an extractive practice? How do we ensure this doesn’t happen at @dopo.space? What are the underlying layers of such an experience? During the role-play, participants will share their experiences to dig into those layers.
